Objective

To illustrate a novel surgical procedure performed by Dr. Susan Talamini and her team of surgeons at the UI Health Urology Clinic. Dr. Talamini planned to publish a paper about the procedure and present at a conference, and she needed visuals to better demonstrate the key moments of the surgery. I opted for simple, direct vector panels so the images could easily be resized and arranged throughout a paper or poster.

In Process Sketches

The surgery had already been completed at the time I was commissioned, so I only had two photographs taken by Dr. Talamini to work from. I sketched up 6 key moments of the surgery, finalizing the viewpoints and color palette before moving on to the vector art.
