Fetal Sex Differentiation

These original models were created as part of an internship with medical VR and animation company Embodied Labs. My role was in primarily in storyboarding and asset creation for an animation about sexual development and differentiation in utero.

Simultaneously, I was enrolled in a 3D modeling class in which I was learning to model and render in Pixologic ZBrush. With permission of my supervisor, I gave the models my own rendering and compositing treatment with Zbrush and Keyshot as part of an infographic assignment for class.

The final infographic included the original models sculpted in ZBrush along with other assets created with Adobe Illustrator. The models were rendered in Keyshot, with some final compositing done using Photoshop. The background was painted in Procreate.

This piece was displayed in the International Museum of Surgical Science’s “Unique Perspectives: Art in Science and Medicine” show running from February to March 2020.
